Fardin’s death: Further investigation report submission Jan 28

A Dhaka court on Tuesday (December 26) deferred the date for the submission of further investigation report into the case filed in connection with the death of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Fardin Noor Parash to January 28 next.

Today was fixed for submitting the further investigation report of the case but investigation agency CID could not submit the report, forcing Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ali Haider to set a fresh date for the submission.

Earlier on April 16, the court ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate further the case filed in connection with the death of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Fardin Noor Parash.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shanta Islam Mallik passed the order following a no-confidence petition filed by Noor Uddin Rana, plaintiff of the case, against the final investigation report submitted by Detective Branch (DB) of police.

Earlier on February 6, DB Police Inspector Yasin Sikder, the investigation officer of the case, submitted the final report clearing Amatullah Bushra -- the accused in the case -- of all charges.

Police recovered Fardin’s body from the Shitalakhkhya River, behind a cotton mill at Siddhirganj, on November 7 last year, three days after he went missing.

Kazi Nuruddin Rana, Fardin’s father, filed a case in connection with his son’s killing with Rampura Police Station.

In the case, Amatullah Bushra, a friend of Fardin and also a 3rd year student of East West University and other unidentified people were made accused. Police arrested Bushra after the case was filed.

On November 10, the court placed Bushra on a five-day remand. After the remand on November 16, the court denied her bail and sent her to jail.

Later, Bushra was granted bail on January 8, 2023.
