3 crore 81 lakh students to get new books January 1

The annual new school book distribution festival is set to take place on the first January 2024, following the tradition of the government distributing new books to students on the first day of the year.

On this day, about 3 crore 81 lakh students will get new books.

Sources in the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education said about 3 crore 81 lakh 28 thousand 354 students from pre-primary level to class nine and equivalent classes will be given books free of costs during the book festival.

A total of 30 crore 70 lakh 83 thousand 517 books will be distributed. Among those, there will be 40 lakh 96 thousand 628 teaching assistance books.

In a letter to the Secretary of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education on Sunday (December 24), the Election Commission (EC) has given permission for the book festival on January 1. Earlier permission was sought from the Ministry of Education to the EC.
