Polling will be stopped if anyone attempts to use muscle power: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal has said the Election Commission (EC) will stop polling immediately if any attempt of muscle power is reported.

The CEC made the remark while speaking at a views exchange meeting with candidates of Chattogram and officers of law enforcing agencies in Chattogram on Tuesday (December 26).

The CEC said, “If muscle power is used during voting, the presiding officer has been told to stop the voting. If he does not stop, he will inform the returning officer and he will stop. If he also does not stop, we will stop polling from Dhaka”.

The CEC said, “We can confirm 100 percent that no voting will be held at night. For this reason, we will send ballot papers to many centers in the morning”.
