Altaf, Hafiz jailed for 21 months

A Dhaka court has sentenced former Home Minister Air Vice Marshal (retd) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and Major (retd) Md Hafiz Uddin to 21 months in jail  on charge of obstructing police from conducting their duties.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury passed the order on Thursday (December 28).

The court has also fined them Tk 5,000 each. In default, they have to serve another one month.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Court's public prosecutor Abdullah Abu confirmed the matter.

Earlier on December 24, the court fixed today for delivering the verdict.
