1151 BGB platoons deployed nationwide

As many as 1,151 platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed nationwide to maintain law and order during the upcoming polls.

Shariful Islam, public relations officer (PRO) at BGB headquarters, confirmed the development to the media Friday (December 29).

He said the BGB men were deployed across the country to maintain law and order ahead of the 12th national elections.

The BGB will operate as a mobile and striking force to ensure security in constituencies across the country, including Dhaka, from December 29 to January 10, he added.

Earlier on November 20, after a meeting, Additional Secretary of the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat Ashok Kumar Debnath said that 5,16000 Ansar members, 1,82091 policemen, 2355 coast guard members, 46,000 BGB members will be deployed in the elections.
