1,89,000 police members to be on election duty

About 1,89,000 police members will perform their duties across the country during the 12th national election.

Deputy Inspector General (Operation) of Police Md Anwar said this at a press briefing on Saturday.

Besides, police will also perform duties with mobile teams, striking teams and the magistrates, he said.

“To police all candidates are equal and directives are given so that all candidates get equal treatment in electioneering,” he said.

The main task of police is to maintain the situation suitable for electionand some policemen were transferred and withdrawn as per the directives of the Election Commission (EC), he added.
