No DJ party, fireworks on 31st night: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has banned open place events, DJ party, fireworks, crackers and lanterns on December 31st night or New Year’s Eve.
A press release was issued from the DMP Media Centre on Sunday (December 31) noon.
The authorities imposed the restrictions as part of the force’s beefed up security measures to check any untoward incidents over New Year celebrations.
None will be allowed to hold any outdoor programmes such as concerts, dance events, DJ party, crackers, fireworks or sky lanterns will remain banned on 31st night, the release said.
Adequate police in uniform and plainclothes will be deployed to ensure security on the eve of the New Year and check-posts will be set up in different parts of the city and people will have to undergo police checking, it said.
The Special Weapons and Tactics team of DMP, dog squad and bomb disposal units will keep ready to tackle any situation, it said adding that fire-fighting units and ambulances will be kept ready in different important points of the city.
