Writ filed to ensure 3.25cr govt beneficiaries to vote

A writ petition has been submitted to the High Court, urging directives to ensure the participation of 3.25 crore government beneficiaries in the 12th national parliamentary election.

Supreme Court lawyer Dr Bashir Ahmed filed the writ petition.

The writ petition is scheduled for a hearing in a High Court bench led by Justice Md Iqbal Kabir on Wednesday (January 3).

The cabinet secretary, the Election Commission, and related parties were made defendants in the petition.
