No risk of militant attacks centring polls: CTTC chief

Md Asaduzzaman, the chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said that there is no risk of militant attacks centring the 12th national parliamentary election on January 7.

“There is no scope for militants to raise their heads or no risk of militant attacks centring the polls,” he said after attending a function at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in the capital’s Segunbagicha on Wednesday (January 3) noon.

Citing that anti-militancy drive is ongoing, Asaduzzaman, also the additional commissioner of DMP, said, “A couple of days ago, we arrested the operational commander along with the key person of an outfit that was trying to regroup.”

“There is no risk of militant attack and the militants do not have that capability at this moment,” he said.
