The Election Commissioner said this while talking to journalists at her office in the Nirbachan Bhaban on Wednesday (January 3).
The election held in 1996 was not acceptable, there was a controversy about that election later. Another election was held within a few days due to its lack of acceptance. There was a lot of waste. We don't want such a situation will happen again, she said.“We aim to hold an election that is universally acknowledged as fair and just,” she said.
Replying to a question, Rashida said, “People want deployment of the army and it will ensure a conducive and peaceful environment for all to participate in the election. We are confident that a fair voting environment has been established.”
