Flights diverted to Kolkata, Hyderabad airports from Dhaka due to dense fog

Thirteen international flights were diverted to Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chattogram and Sylhet airports between 2:00am and 9:00am on Thursday (January 4) after failing to land at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka due to dense fog.

Group Captain Kamrul Islam, executive director at HSIA, confirmed the matter to the media.

Kamrul said the diverted flights started landing at the Dhaka airport from 9:40am with visibility becoming suitable for pilots.

Earlier, flight operations were suspended at the HSIA for seven hours due to dense fog.
