Election campaign ends

Campaigning for the 12th general election ends today (Friday) at 8am. Voters are now waiting to cast their votes.
Following the deadline, on Thursday candidates of all political parties and activists were busy on the last day of campaigning. Earlier, on December 18, the election campaigning began with the allocation of the electoral symbols.
Polling in 299 constituencies will take place from 8am-4pm on January 7. The Election Commission (EC) postponed the voting to Naogaon-2 constituency after an independent candidate Aminul Haque passed away.
On Wednesday, the army were deployed across the country ahead of the national election. On December 29, members of the police, RAB, BGB and coast guards were deployed to ensure peace and order before, during, and after the election day.
Among the 44 registered political parties, a total of 27 parties are participating in this election. BNP and its allies are not participating in the polls.
Hasan/Nasim
