‘None of all 8 burnt in Benapole Express fire is out of danger’

All eight people, who sustained burn injuries in a fire set to a Benapole Express train in the capital’s Gopibagh area on Friday (January 5) night, are undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

“None of those sustaining burn injuries in the Benapole Express train fire is out of danger as their trachea was burnt,” said Dr Samanta Lal Sen, chief coordinator of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, while briefing reporters on Saturday (January 6).

He said, “A total of eight patients were admitted here with burn injuries. Someone sustains 8% burns and someone with 9%. But dangerous thing is that tracheas of all eight patients were burnt.”
