Foreign observers are visiting several polling stations in various places on the occasion of the 12th national parliament elections.
Scottish Parliament member Martyn Day, a foreign observer said that although the election environment is good, however, the voter turnout seems low.
He said this while addressing newsmen after visiting a voting centre at Viqarunnisa Noon School & College in Dhaka’s Siddheswari around 9:35am on Sunday (January 7).
Meanwhile, the presiding officer of the centre explained the reasons behind the low voter turnout.
Replying to a question regarding the election environment and presence of voters, Martyn Day said no comment right now. We are observing. We will make comments after observing the whole day elections.
He also said that the voting system at polling station is good. However, voter turnout is not enough. Looks like summer vacation is underway.
Earlier, the balloting began at 8am and will continue until 4pm without any break.
