27.15pc votes cast till 3pm: EC

The country witnessed a turnout of 27.15 per cent voters in seven hours till 3:00pm on Sunday.

Election Commission Secretary Mohammad Jahangir Alam disclosed this at a press conference held at the Election Commission’s media centre in the afternoon.

Earlier, he said about 18.5 per cent votes were cast from 8.00am to 12.00pm on Sunday in the 12th national election.

The 12th national election began at 8:00am with people queuing up outside polling centres, despite the ongoing hartal called by BNP-Jamaat and a few other political parties.
