Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has been elected as the leader of the 12th parliament again.
The newly elected lawmakers of the Awami League, under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, held their first meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday (January 10), unanimously electing her as the House leader.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader proposed Sheikh Hasina’s name as the House leader and Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury Liton supported the proposal. Later, it was unanimously accepted.
Sheikh Hasina was previously elected as the leader of the House in the seventh, ninth, tenth and eleventh parliament.
Alongside electing the House leader, deputy leader of the House was also elected in the meeting. Matia Chowdhury, deputy leader of the 11th parliament, has been re-elected the deputy leader of the 12th parliament.
Meanwhile, Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury Liton became the chief whip of the House, Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury the speaker and Md Shamsul Haque Tuku the deputy speaker.
