The newly appointed Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali has sought time to control commodity prices during the holy month of Ramadan as all crises will not disappear overnight.
“The Finance Ministry alone cannot control the prices of commodities. We will work in coordination with the Commerce Ministry. Give us time to control commodity prices during Ramadan. All crises will not disappear overnight,” the minister said while speaking to journalists at the secretariat on Sunday (January 14).
Regarding the money laundering, the finance minister said, “We will work on preventing money laundering.”
He also said, “The value of Bangladeshi currency has declined. We have plans to work on it.”
“Let’s see what can be done in this regard. There are challenges in the economy, give us some time,” he added.
