SC orders lower court to complete Rana Plaza case trial

The Supreme Court directed the lower court concerned to finish in six months the trial proceedings of a murder case, which was filed after the Rana Plaza collapse that killed over 1,100 garment workers in April, 2013.
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan passed the order on Monday (January 15).
Advocate Md Kamrul Islam moved for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Sarwar Hossain Bappi stood for the state during the hearing in the court.
Rana Plaza, a multi-storey building in Savar on the outskirts of Dhaka, collapsed on April 24 of 2013, leaving more than 1,100 garment workers dead and injuring around 2,000. Besides, 2,438 laborers were rescued from the rubble.
