Bangladesh ranks 37th in military power

Bangladesh has been ranked 37th among the 145 countries considered for the annual Global Firepower review, 2024.

The nation holds a PwrIndx (power index) score of 0.5419. A score of 0.0000 is considered ‘perfect’.

Bangladesh was ranked 40th among the 145 countries in 2023.

The list for 2024 was published on 6 January this year.

Among the South Asian nations, Bangladesh is currently in the 37th position in terms of military strength. The countries ahead of Bangladesh in the region are – India, Pakistan, and Myanmar and the nations trailing the country are – Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan.

globalfirepower.com publishes a list of countries with military capacities every year, taking into consideration over 60 individual factors to determine a given nation’s PowerIndex score, with categories ranging from quantity of military units and financial standing to logistical capabilities and geography.

According to the latest report, the United States is at the top of the list with 0.0699 power index followed by Russia, China, India, South Korea, United Kingdom, Japan, Turkey, Pakistan and Italy.

Among the neighbouring countries of Bangladesh, India is in the 4th place, Pakistan is in the 9th place, Myanmar 35th, Sri Lanka 75st, and Nepal in the 128th place.

Bhutan is in the last place (145th) with Power Index of 6.3704.
