BB to announce new monetary policy Wednesday

Bangladesh Bank (BB) is going to announce a new monetary policy on Wednesday prioritizing strategies to overcome the ongoing economic crisis.

Central Bank Governor Abdur Rauf Talukder will announce the new monetary policy for the January-June period on Wednesday (January 17) at 3 pm.

The central bank tries to protect the economic development and stability of the country by announcing the monetary policy twice a year. Controlling inflation will be one of the goals of the monetary policy this time.

Sources said that the central bank's board meeting approved the draft monetary policy at the beginning of this week. The monetary policy is being announced at a time of dollar crisis, high inflation. This time too there is a plan to increase the policy interest rate to make the taka more expensive. Besides, the other policies will continue as usual.
