Elections for reserved women seats in February

The elections for reserved women seats of the Jatiya Sangsad are likely to be held in February.

Election Commission Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath said this at a briefing on Tuesday (January 16).

The detailed election schedule for these reserved seats is expected to be announced next week, underscoring the significance of this momentous event, he said.

In the recently concluded 12th national election, the Awami League emerged as the dominant force by winning 223 seats, followed by the Jatiya Party with 11 seats. Besides, Jasad, Workers Party, and Kalyan Party secured one seat each, while independent candidates claimed 62 seats.
