Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal has said the people’s confidence in the country’s election system has decreased. With the successful completion of the 12th national election, the nation has overcome the crisis. But, it is not a permanent solution.
The CEC said this as the chief guest at a program marking the successful completion of the 12th national election at the Nirbachon Bhaban auditorium on Thursday (January 18).
People’s confidence in the election system has decreased a lot. Political leaders should find out a way to overcome the crisis.
CEC said, "Without the help of the government, it is not possible to make such a big task successful. We have to take both defamation and slander".
The nation's overall progress and development will face hindrances if a political crisis looms every five years, he said.
Citing references to the previously held elections, he remarked that the 12th national election was held in a free and fair manner compared to the past. "But the matter is not like that the election has been very participatory," he added.
