67pc MPs in 12th Jatiya Sangad are businessmen: Sujon

The number of businessmen and millionaire MPs has increased in the 12th Jatiya Sangsad compared to the 11th Jatiya Sangsad.
About 200 businessmen have been elected as lawmakers in 12th general election. This amounts to almost 67 per cent of the total members of the parliament. About 90 percent lawmakers own crores of money.
Central coordinator of Shushasoner Jonno Nagorik (Shujan) unveiled this at a virtual press conference on Tuesday.
As many as 185 businessmen have been elected as lawmakers in 11th general election. This amounts to almost 61.66 per cent of the total members of the parliament, it said.
The organisation made this observation after analysing the declarations submitted by 299 elected lawmakers to the election commission, Shujan Secretary Badiul Alam Majumder said.
He mentioned it as a good sign that the parliament had a large number of educated persons and highest tax payers as lawmakers in this election.
