Chinese vice minister arrives in Dhaka

Chinese Communist Party’s vice minister of the International Liaison Department Sun Haiyan arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday (January 23) night on a four-day visit.

This is going to be the first high profile visit from China after the current government assumed office for the fourth consecutive term.

On Wednesday (January 24), the Chinese vice minister will call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, among others.

She will also meet Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today.

The CPC vice minister arrived in Dhaka on a special flight from Male after her three-day visit to the Maldives.

Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her re-election as prime minister of Bangladesh in a message.
