We want full freedom of media: Arafat

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat has put emphasis on the full freedom of media.

“We want full freedom of media. We want to bring misinformation under the purview of accountability. At the end of the day, we want rumour-free media where there will be a free flow of information and the government or authority must be questioned. There will be an opportunity to reply and a scope for criticism,” he said.

He made the remarks while holding a meeting with Association of Television Channel Owners (ATCO) at the conference room of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the secretariat on Thursday (January 25).

Arafat said that in the first cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister said that there will be criticism in many cases, some criticisms will be based on correct information. After knowing the facts, we have to try to correct ourselves.

The Premier wants criticism to be based on correct information, he said.
