Labour law violation: Dr Yunus, 3 others get bail

Grameen Telecom chairman and Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus, and three other officials of the company have been granted bail in a case filed over labour law violation.
The Labour Appellate Tribunal accepted the appeal and granted bail after Dr Muhammad Yunus appeared before the tribunal and applied for bail at around 10am on Sunday (28 January).
Appellate Tribunal Justice M A Awal passed the order and fixed March 3 for next hearing in the case.
Yunus's lawyer Barrister Abdullah Al-Mamun confirmed the matter.
Earlier on January 1, Sheikh Merina Sultana, chairman of the Third Labour Court of Dhaka, sentenced Dr Yunus, chairman of Grameen Telecom, and its directors Ashraful Hassan, Nurjahan Begum and M Shahjahan to six months in jail in a case.
