HC suspends gazette on polls results for Jhenaidah-1 seat

The High Court (HC) has issued a stay order of the gazette notification on results of the national elections for the Jhenaidah-1 constituency.

A bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman passed the order on Thursday (February 1).

Advocate Majibur Rahman moved the petitioner during the hearing at the court.

Earlier on January 7, the Returning Officer announced AL-backed candidate Abdul Hyee as a winner from Jhenaidha-1 (Shailkupa) seat.

According to the result, in constituency, Abdul Hyee bagged 94,379 votes with Boat symbol and defeated independent candidate Nazrul Islam Dulal who got 80,547 votes in the election.

Later, Nazrul Islam Dulal filed a petition with the court seeking postponed in the seat.
