Forex reserve slips to $19 billion

The country is facing dollar crisis due to various reasons, and the government is meeting various liabilities including import expenditure from the reserve. As a result, Bangladesh’s foreign exchange reserve has slipped to 19 billion dollars.
At the beginning of the year, Bangladesh’s net foreign exchange reserve stood at two thousand 700 US dollars. On January 31, it stood at 25.9 billion dollars.
According to the BPM 6 rules of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), there is a difference of about 5.15 billion dollars. So, the reserve has stood at 19.94 billion dollars. According to the calculation, 191 crore dollars declined in one month.
In the beginning of 2023-24, Bangladesh’s foreign currency reserve was 23.37 billion dollars.
