Thousands of Muslim pilgrims offered Jummah prayers on the bank of the Turag River on Friday (February 2), on the first day of the three-day Biswa Ijtema.
Earlier, the annual congregation began with the a'mbayan (general sermons) of Pakistani Islamic scholar Maulana Ziaul Haque after the Fajr prayers.
Maulana Zubair led the Jummah prayer at 1:46pm. More than 2,000 devotees from 47 countries joined the second largest congregation of Muslims after Hajj.
The first phase of Ijtema will end on Sunday with Akheri Munajat (final prayers). The second phase of the Ijtema will commence on February 9.
