At least 95 personnel of Myanmar's Border Guard Police (BGP) took refuge in Bangladesh amid reports of heavy gunfights between the government troops and the rebels in the junta-run country.
BGP men were kept under their counterpart Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) custody while the weapons they carried with them were deposited in the BGB cache.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) public relations officer Md Shariful Islam confirmed the matter on Monday (February 5).
Earlier on Sunday, 58 boarder guard police of Myanmar fled to Bangladesh on Sunday amid widespread clashes between the country's army and rebels.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said that Bangladesh's security forces along the Myanmar border remain alert amid growing tensions in the neighbouring country.
