Rice price has reduced: Food Minister

Food Minister Food Sadhan Chandra Majumder has said the rice price has reduced at all levels, from mill gates to retail markets, due to countrywide ongoing anti-illegal hoarding operation.

The minister came up with the claim at an inter-ministry coordination meeting at the food ministry’s conference room on Tuesday (February 6). 

Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdus Shahid and State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu were also present.

“Retailers want to make a profit of Tk 4-5 per kg. There is a huge price difference between mill gates and retail markets”, he said.
