PM wants role of public representatives to prevent extortion, hoarding

Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has called on public representatives to play a role in preventing illegal hoarding and extortion in a bid to control commodity prices. 

The Prime Minister made the call at an extended meeting of Awami League (AL) at her official residence Ganabhaban on Saturday.

Party’s national committee, central working committee, advisory council, presidents and general secretaries of district, city, upazila, thana, municipality, lawmakers of Awami League and independent, zilla and upazila parishad mayors who elected in AL ticket and presidents and general secretaries of central committee of AL associate bodies joined it.

The Premier said, “it will also be scrutinised how much work has been done for the common people in the last 15 years remaining in power, and who could not do that. Through it (scrutiny) we will judge who is more acceptable to the people.”
