State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu has said that the Prime Minister has directed to explore new markets of country’s exportable products and expand the export markets.
The state minister said this when Canadian High Commissioner in Dhaka Dr Lilly Nicholls called on him on Monday.
The state minister requested the Canadian High Commissioner to import more pharmaceuticals and bicycle from Bangladesh apart from the RMG products.
Lauding highly the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Canadian High Commissioner said that Canada enjoys a long-standing friendly relation with Bangladesh.
She expressed her country's interest to export canola oil to Bangladesh side by side informed that Canada has special demands for fruit juice and dry fruits.
Envoys of two other countries-Iranian Ambassador Mansour Chavoshi and Nepalese Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari-separately called on the state minister at his office at Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday.
Citing that transaction of money often become problem in terms of trade with Iran, Ahsanul urged the Iranian ambassador to address the issue in consultation with the Bangladesh Bank.
In the meeting with the Nepalese ambassador, the state minister suggested for framing and signing a preferential trade agreement (PTA) between the two countries to boost bilateral trade and commerce.
