Making Bangla an official UN language is our dream: Hasan Mahmud

Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud shared his dream to establish Bangla as one of the official languages of the United Nations (UN).

He said this while speaking at a commemorative event for National Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day at the Foreign Service Academy on Wednesday (February 21).

Hasan said, “Our dream is to make Bangla the official language of UN. This is our dream. I know there are many obstacles, but this is our dream today.”

“On February 21 in 1952, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was in jail. Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (from jail) for treatment. He held a meeting there. In that meeting, it was decided that a protest rally would be brought out on the 21st February, 1952. Bangabandhu took this decision sitting inside the jail,” the foreign minister said.
