Hallmark scam: Court to deliver verdict today

A Dhaka court is set to pronounce its verdict today (February 28) in a much-talked loan scam case against the Hallmark Group, accused of embezzling around Tk4,000 crore of Sonali Bank through forgery in 2010-12.

Judge Abul Kashem of Dhaka’s First Special Judge’s Court will deliver the verdict.

There are 19 accused in the case. Jasmine, Tanvir and six others are now in jail custody while Jamal is now on bail. And 10 others have been absconding.

Earlier, the court recorded statements of 57 prosecution witnesses, including complainant of the case.

On March 27, 2016, another Dhaka court framed charges against them in the case.
