At least 44 dead in Bailey Road building fire

At least 44 people died in a fire that broke out in a commercial building in the capital’s Baily Road area on Thursday night (29 February).

Health Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen confirmed the matter.

Earlier, devastating fire broke out at 9:45pm in the restaurant. Firefighters rescued many people in unconscious state from the rooftop and different floors of the seven-storey building.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun held the press briefing in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, announcing that 44 people had died.
