Books worth Tk 60cr sold at Ekushey Book Fair

Books worth Tk 60 crore were sold at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair that concluded on Saturday (March 2).

This year, a total of 3751 new books were displayed at the fair.  Books worth Tk 47crore were sold at the last Ekushey Book Fair, and a total of 3730 new books hit the fair last year.

Deputy Director of Bangla Academy Shahed Momtaz disclosed this at the closing ceremony of the book fair on Saturday (March 2).

The prime minister's advisor on education and culture, Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury addressed the closing ceremony as chief guest while State Minister for Cultural Affairs Nahid Izhar Khan, attended the function as the guest of honor.

Ministry of Culture secretary Khalil Ahmed addressed it as the special guest while Director General of Bangla Academy poet Mohammad Nurul Huda gave the address of welcome on the occasion, chaired by Bangla Academy President Selina Hossain.
