Writ filed seeking shutdown of restaurants in residential areas

A writ has been filed with the High Court seeking its directive upon the government to close restaurants in all residential buildings in the capital.
The writ also sought the court's order to arrest the persons responsible for the fire incident caused at the Green Cozy Cottage building and directives to give compensation to the families of the victims.
Supreme Court lawyer Md Eunus Ali Akand filed the petition with the relevant branch of the High Court on Sunday (March 3).
The cabinet secretary, Home Affairs and Public Administration ministry secretaries, Inspector General of Police, RAJUK Chairman, and mayors of both Dhaka South and North City Corporations have been made respondents to the writ.
