Commodity prices will not increase in Ramadan: State Minister

State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu has said that the government has taken steps to control commodity prices during the month of Ramadan so prices will not increase at that time.

The state minister said this at a press briefing after the ministry of commerce session during the second day of the ongoing Deputy Commissioners' Conference in Dhaka on Monday. Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun was also present.

Deputy commissioners have been instructed to ensure the supply of essential products. Consumers will not be faced with any more new price hikes, he said.

Edible oil price has been cut by Tk 10, the state minister said, adding that he and other concerned officials will monitor the market.
At the same time, the deputy commissioners have been directed to ensure that no obstruction is created anywhere in the value chain.
