BNP leader Hafiz sent to jail after surrender

BNP Vice Chairman Major (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed was sent jail today after a Dhaka court denied him bail in violence case.

He surrendered before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury this morning (March 5) and sought bail in the case. Later, the court sent him jail after hearing, rejecting the bail petition.

Earlier on December 28, last year, the same court sentenced him 21 months imprisonment in two separate sections.

The case was filed over political violence in Dhaka's Gulshan area in 2011.
