Historic March 7: PM pays tribute to Bangabandhu

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, marking the historic March 7.

She placed a wreath in front of her father's portrait at Bangabandhu Bhaban at 7 am Thursday (March 7).

Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina subsequently spent a few moments in solemn silence.

Later, the ruling party's senior leaders paid tribute to the Father of the Nation.

On this day in 1971, Bangabandhu addressed tens of thousands who gathered at the Racecourse ground, now the Suhrawardy Udyan, in Dhaka. He proclaimed: “The struggle this time is for our freedom. The struggle this time is for independence.”
