Bangladesh Biman takes special initiatives on Women`s Day

Biman Bangladesh Airlines will operate an international flight today (March 8) celebrating International Women's Day. All staff of the flight including ground crew and pilots will be female.

Sources said the flight crew members will also be briefed by Biman’s female officer.

The special flight BG-349 will be operated on Dhaka-Dammam route.

Captain Alia Mannan as pilot and Fariha Tabassum as first officer are expected to take off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSJIA) at 2.30 pm with all female crew members and boarded passengers for Dammam.

Officials of the Biman said that female officers and employees are performing equal duties with male officers and employees in Biman Bangladesh Airlines. This time, Biman Bangladesh has undertaken an exceptional initiative by showing respect to the skills and professionalism of its women employees.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines MD and CEO Shafiul Azim said that the government is giving special importance to empowering women.

Tahera Khandkar, general manager (public relations) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, said that women are performing equal duties side by side male officers and employees in Biman Bangladesh Airlines. In some cases, women are ahead of men.
