SCBA polls: BNP-backed Khokon elected president, AL’s Monjurul secy

BNP-backed Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon has been elected president and Awami League-backed Advocate Shah Monjurul Haque secretary in the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) election 2024-25.
Election management committee convener Abul Khayer announced the result on Saturday midnight (March 9).
Earlier, the vote counting began around 3:00pm on Saturday. Additional security measures were taken in the supreme court premises centering the vote counting.
In this election, apart from the president, three member positions have been elected from BNP-Jamaat backed Nationalist Lawyer Oikya (Blue) panel. They are - Syed Fazle Elahi, Fatima Akhtar and Md. Shafiqul Islam.
Apart from the secretary, ten candidates were declared winners from the panel supported by Bangabandhu Awami Lawyer Parishad (white). They are- Ramzan Ali Shikder, Dewan Mohammad Abu Obayed Hossain Setu, Mohammad Nurul Huda Ansary, Barrister Md Humayun Kabir Pallab and Humayun Kabir, Rashedul Haque Khokon, Belal Hossain Shahin, Khaled Mosharrad Ripon and Rayhan Roni.
