Holy Ramadan begins

The holy month of Ramadan began in Bangladesh on Tuesday (March 12).
Today is the first Ramadan. The holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said the first ten days of Ramadan are the days of mercy, second 10 days are forgiveness and the last 10 days are salvation.
Ramadan, also known as Ramzan, is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar. It is a time when Muslims around the world focus on prayers, fasting, giving to charity and religious devotion.
Earlier, after a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee, Religious Affairs Minister Md Faridul Haque Khan announced that new moon was sighted in the sky of Bangladesh on Monday evening, so Muslims in the country will start dawn-to-dusk fasting from Tuesday.
President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina greeted the countrymen and all Muslims across the world on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
