Sagira Morshed murder case: 2 to walk gallows

A Dhaka court today sentenced two people to death for their involvement in the murder of Sagira Morshed in Dhaka in 1989.

Dhaka Special Judge Court-3 Justice Mohammad Ali Hossain passed the order on Wednesday (March 13).

The convicts are Anas Mahmud alias Rezwan and Maruf Reza.

The court also fined them Tk50,000 each, in default, they would have to spend six more months in jail.

The court acquitted three other accused in the case. They are – Dr Hasan Ali Chowdhury, 70, his wife Sayedatul Mahmud alias Shahin, 64, and Mantu Mandal.

Faruk Ahmed, lawyer of the plaintiffs confirmed the matter.
