Cleaner`s death in road crash sparks protest in Gabtoli

The locals blocked Gabtoli-Aminbazar highway on Thursday, protesting the death of a female cleaner of Dhaka North City Corporation in a road crash.

The deceased was known as Ayesha Aktar, 50.

Police said the accident took place around 5:00am. Following the information, locals rushed to the spot and staged protest. Later, they put up barricades on the highway, halting vehicular movement.

Traffic gridlock stretched to Asad Gate area from Gabtoli as the important road was closed for a long time.

Darussalam police station Duty Officer S I Monir Hossain said police forces were sent to the spot. The law enforcers are trying to bring the situation under control.
