10 nominated for Independence Award

The government has nominated ten distinguished people for "Swadhinata Padak 2024" (Independence Award), the highest civilian award, for their outstanding contribution to the country.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this connection on Friday (March 15).
According to the notification, Kazi Abdus Sattar, valiant freedom fighter flight sergeant Md Fazlul Haque, and freedom fighter Shahid Abu Naim Md Nazib Uddin Khan (Khurram) were nominated for their contributions to the Independence and Liberation War.
Dr Mobarak Ahmed Khan will receive the award for his contribution to Science and Technology.
Dr Harishangkar Das will get the award in medical category.
Mohammad Rafiquzzaman, Feroza Khatun will receive the award in culture and sports categories respectively.
Aranna Chiran, Valiant freedom fighter professor Mollah Obayedullah Baki and S M Abraham Linkon will get the award for their role in social work/service.
Independence Award is the highest state award in the country. The government has been giving this award every year since 1977 on the occasion of Independence Day on 26 March.
