Staff Correspondent, DHAKA, Dec 7: Expelled Jatiya Party (JP) leader and former Prime Minister Kazi Jafar Ahmed has placed a 5-point demand including resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and release of BNP leaders.


He also demanded an initiative of President Md Abdul Hamid immediately to break the existing political gridlock of the country.

 

The former prime minister said this at a press conference in connection with the existing political gridlock and JP’s stand at his residence in the city on Saturday in presence of BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s adviser Shawkat Mahmud.

 

JP Presidium member TIM Fazle Rabbi MP and HM Golam Reza MP were also present on the occasion.

 

Kazi Jafar said PM Sheikh Hasina is to be quit and the President has to take an initiative to arrange a dialogue between the two major parties to form the non-party caretaker government in a bid break the political gridlock of the country.

 

He demanded the release of BNP leaders and activists including Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, MK Anwar MP, ASM Hannan Shah, Sadeque Hossain Khoka and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed with withdrawal of all cases against them.

 

He also demanded immediate release of Bangla daily Amar Desh Editor Mahmudur Rahman in the press conference.
