Assistant proctor and classmate involved, says police

Jagannath University's assistant proctor Deen Islam and classmate Amman Siddique were involved in the suicide of law department's student Fairuz Abantika, police said.

Additional Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Dr Mahid Uddin revealed the matter in a press conference on Sunday noon (March 17).

He said the accused were under scanner just after the incident. They were arrested after a case was filed with Katwali police station in Cumilla.

The police official also said that initially they told us fragmented parts of the incident. It is not possible to say the details before the full investigation. It is initially known that they are involved with the incident.

Earlier on Saturday night (March 16), police detained Jagannath University (JnU) assistant proctor Deen Islam and student Amman Siddique in connection with the suicide of a female student, Fairuz Abantika, in Cumilla.
