555 killed in road accidents in February

At least 555 people were killed and 1,031 were injured in 503 road accidents across the country in February.

A press release of Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity disclosed this on Wednesday.

Of the deaths, 210 died in 173 road crashes involving motorcycles, which is 37.83 percent of the total deaths last month.

The organisation prepared the report compiling media reports during the month.

The highest number of 115 accidents occurred in the Dhaka division, leaving 135 dead and 317 injured, while Sylhet witnessed the lowest 21 accidents which left 22 people dead and 50 injured, it said.
